Well I gave in and went to the emergency room and got some steroids….had some relief with the first several days. Teetering now on the line between is it getting better or not? I’ve scheduled an appointment to see my pain doctor and will see how that goes.
In the meantime, back to wearing my back brace, but I’m no quitting. I’ve had enough sitting around the house. Gonna find a trail to go to soon and take my chances.
Whether my back is hurting me now or not….it still is far less than it was when we first started hiking last year. Will be glad to have a month with no pain. I”m mentally prepared to take my chances though. Its calmed down enough now that I’m ready to give it a try. I’m really just having to learn what I am capable of and not capable of. It definitely has a learning curve to it.
The problem with the nerve pain is that when you do something that bothers it, you won’t know it right away. Oh no….it will be days, sometimes weeks later. Once it starts, it just snowballs from there. I’ve never had any luck controlling it on my own. Ice packs, heat pads, stretching, walking, anti-inflammatories….nada works for me!
Just had a minor set back….ready to get back out there and see where the trail leads.
Look for the next trip to be soon (hopefully)!
