UPDATE 2/2/2014: Still wearing this jacket and still my favorite. As of now, I have a total of 3. One specifically for hiking, which is the one in the picture above. A cream colored one (which I hated the color of after I bought it and gave it to my daughter) and recently purchased a light grey one to wear to work every day, saving my dark one for hiking alone.
I absolutely love my jacket, and I didn’t pay that much for it! I like it so much I went back to Cabela’s and bought a second one so I would have one to wear hiking and one to wear to work. I’d love to have it in every color!
I’ve worn this jacket hiking in temperatures from 20 to 60 and just love it. Its soft, water resistant, and light weight. I pair it up with underlayers and another sweater/jacket if it gets real cold. I sleep in it, hike in it, love it.
I try to take a small hike 3 days a week during my lunch break and have never needed more than this jacket paired with a scarf. Two days ago, I took a 1-hour hike and the temperature was 25 degrees with gusty winds and this jacket done a great job of keeping me at the right temperature – not too hot, not too cold. It was chilly at first but once I got warmed up, I was perfect.
I wouldn’t use this jacket in heavy rain (light mist okay); nor would I wear it in snow or lengthy temperatures below freezing but short term, its perfect! LOVE IT!
