Okay….birthday has come and gone and I’ve got my new backpack (thank you honey), and I cannot wait to try it.
Will give it a good review after I’ve tested it a time or two. Check back for updates!

UPDATE: I tried out my backpack (for the first time finally) on a day hike, about 6 miles long in 70-90 degree weather, and I must say I am very impressed so far. It feels like you don’t have anything on. The next trip I used my typical daypack, under similar weather conditions, and my Alpine sure did keep my back a lot cooler and drier. I’d like to have one in a smaller version for day hikes.
It took a little getting used to the way it sat on my back but once I did, no problems at all. It was comfortable.
There are a lot of straps on this backpack and it seems a little overwhelming at times, but I wouldn’t hold it against the pack!
So far, loving it!
UPDATE 11/2013-Loving this backpack! Feels good, carries good. Downside is that there are a lot of extra straps, hooks, etc. I feel like maybe a little overkill, but I’ve been trying to find uses for them.
