Location: Truman Lake Mountain Bike Park , Warsaw, MO
Activity: Day Hike
Other Trailgoers: 1
Would I Go Again: Absolutely
This would be my first official hike since my simulator placement, so it had to be somewhere close and somewhere relatively easy with a lot of options in case I had to shorten the hike. We actually had been on this trail some years back (before it was finished) as a short day hike — perhaps this was the trail that gave me my obsession to hike?
The trails are completed now and they are fantastic. There are so many options here that you could walk/bike quite a ways. There are multiple switchbacks to these trails. Rather than walking in a straight line, you will be winding around a lot. There will be plenty of times where you will make a turn and walk right back beside where you came from with only 20 feet separating the trails. The only map I could find was at the city of Warsaw’s website and its lacking, but it gives you a consensus of what trail you want to be on.
There are fabulous views of Truman Lake. We seen only one person on a bike the whole time we were here. I would imagine in warmer weather, this place has quite a bit of usage, but I can only guess as I’ve not been there in warm weather.
Highly recommend trying this place out for a quick day hike. There are some minor climbs. The path can be a bit rocky at times. But its overall an easy hike.
